A Conclave on AI brings together education leaders from across India to reshape and redefine learning for the AI era.

BENGALURU, India (AI Reporter/News): The future of education was on the minds of school leaders at the recent School Leaders’ Conclave 2024 – ED.AI, hosted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in Bengaluru, a leading tech city of the world. Over 60 principals and educators from across India gathered at the MAHE Bengaluru campus to explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping the classrooms of tomorrow.

Deliberations on using AI in education

The topic of discussion at the event was using AI in education. The event united educators and thought leaders from over 55 schools, all harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to shape and reimagine the future of education. Education leaders from all around India came together at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education in Bengaluru for the MAHE B’LRU ED.AI School Leaders Conclave intending to reimagine education in the AI era.

Exploring the Future of Education: Leadership, Innovation, and the Global Perspective

There were three distinct sessions: ‘Strategic Leadership in Times of Educational Transformation‘ was presented by Prof. (Dr.) Madhu Veeraraghavan, Pro Vice-Chancellor at MAHE Bengaluru and Pro Vice-Chancellor (MLHS) at MAHE; ‘Brainstorming Session on Future of Learning: Design Thinking in Education – Creating Student-Centric Environments’ was led by Prof. Dr. Madhu Veeraraghavan, Pro Vice-Chancellor at MAHE Bengaluru and Pro Vice-Chancellor (MLHS) at MAHE.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Karunakar A. Kotegar, Director of International Relations at MAHE Manipal, and Professor in the Department of Data Science and Computer Applications at the Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal.

Embracing AI for Enhanced Education

Dr. Karunakar stated in his keynote address, “To maximize the benefits of technology, we must fully embrace it. The focus of today’s conclave is on the role of artificial intelligence in education. We should view technology as a complement to human effort. It is essential to acknowledge the importance of teachers in the classroom and explore how artificial intelligence can enhance the learning experience.”

Leadership and Innovation in Education

Addressing the forum, Prof Dr. Madhu Veeraraghavan, said, “The ED.AI Conclave is the intersection of education and AI as the role of technology is growing in shaping the future of students and also a game changer in the teaching methodologies. It is our great duty as leaders to mold the next generation through creativity, building resilience, and moral leadership. The Leadership Conclave provides a forum for motivating and enabling school administrators to successfully negotiate the challenges of education while exhibiting vision, morality, and teamwork. Together, let’s set out on a path of greatness and change that will influence education for future generations”.

The Role of AI and Collaborative Leadership

Dr. Raghavendra Prabhu, Deputy Registrar, MAHE B’LRU said, “The Leadership Conclave is a turning point in the quest for academic achievement and has served as a great platform in exchanging innovative ideas on the need for embracing AI in education.”

“As a forward-thinking academic Institute, we advocate enhancing education & fostering collaboration through such conclaves, we come together to fan the flames of transformative leadership, encouraging school leaders to collaborate & innovative thus feel empowered”, he added.

AI’s Role in Modernizing Education

Professor Dr. Madhu Veeraraghavan conducted workshops and masterclasses on artificial intelligence (AI) in education at the event. He explored the evolution of AI as an essential element of educational systems and emphasized the necessity for schools to integrate it.

Professor Madhu provided insights into the Gurukula System, elucidating its definition and discussing how technology can reinterpret ancient wisdom, enhancing its efficiency and relevance in contemporary times.

He asserts that for colleges to evolve and adequately equip their students for the workforce, it is essential to incorporate education on emerging technologies within the classroom. He further discussed the imperative for educational institutions to offer curricula and programs aligned with the current needs and demands of the business sector. The courses should mirror the fundamental skills that the industry requires in 2024.

Prestigious schools such as Mayo College Ajmer, Good Shepherd International School, Suncity International School Gurgaon, The Scindia School, Vidyashilp Academy Bangalore, Board School Association of India, Modern Vidya Niketan, Hyderabad Public School, Seth Anandram Jaipuria Schools, The Emerald Heights International School, Birla Education Trust Pilani, DSR Educational Society Sai International School, Delhi Public School North and South, and Greenwood High Bangalore participated in the conclave.
