ZenaTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZENA) (FSE: 49Q) (BMV: ZENA) has announced that its drone subsidiary, ZenaDrone, has begun developing a quantum navigation system. This system is designed to enable secure drone operations in environments where GPS is unavailable or satellite signals are compromised.

The quantum navigation system will initially support the ZenaDrone 1000, a multifunction heavy-lift drone used in defense applications such as Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), specialized cargo transport, and border patrol. The company plans to scale the technology across its IQ series drone platforms in the future.

According to ZenaTech CEO Shaun Passley, Ph.D., the ability to operate autonomously in GPS-denied environments is crucial for modern defense. He emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting U.S. defense and national security by providing technology that functions where conventional systems are ineffective. Passley views quantum navigation as a fundamental capability for the next generation of autonomous defense systems and highlights the strategic investments in research and development to establish ZenaTech as a leader in this evolving industry.

Quantum navigation systems utilize quantum physics-based principles and sensors to provide self-contained and ultra-precise motion sensing, enabling reliable navigation without GPS. These systems are particularly relevant as defense missions increasingly encounter environments where GPS and satellite signals are unreliable due to jamming, spoofing, or other contested conditions.

By fusing quantum inertial measurement with AI-driven path correction, these navigation systems can maintain accurate positioning over extended mission periods without relying on external signals. Quantum navigation can also benefit commercial drones operating in GPS-challenged environments like dense urban areas, indoor industrial facilities, underground sites, and long-range Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) missions.

The company’s research and development team is in the early stages of incorporating this technology into the ZenaDrone 1000. Management anticipates progressing through research and development, drone integration, and testing phases, involving multifunctional teams.

The quantum navigation system is expected to be integrated into ZenaDrone’s defense and commercial drone platforms, enhancing capabilities for surveillance, critical infrastructure inspection, and defense missions.

The ZenaDrone 1000 is an advanced AI-powered VTOL heavy-lift platform designed for defense use. It offers ISR capabilities, including real-time surveillance, tactical reconnaissance, and secure data collection, as well as cargo transport and mission-critical payload delivery. Its modular design facilitates rapid configuration for multi-mission operations in high-risk environments, ranging from infrastructure monitoring to operational logistics support.

ZenaTech specializes in AI drone, Drone as a Service (DaaS), enterprise SaaS, and Quantum Computing solutions for mission-critical applications across business, government, and defense sectors. Since 2017, the company has leveraged its software development expertise and expanded its drone design and manufacturing capabilities through ZenaDrone. The company operates through global offices in North America, Europe, Taiwan, and UAE, and is growing its DaaS business and global network of locations through acquisitions.

ZenaDrone, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ZenaTech, develops and manufactures autonomous drone solutions that integrate machine learning software, AI, predictive modeling, Quantum Computing, and other software and hardware innovations. The ZenaDrone 1000 drone is currently used for crop management and critical field cargo applications in the defense sector, the IQ Nano indoor drone is used for inventory management and security in the warehouse and logistics sectors, the IQ Square is an outdoor drone designed for power washing and inspections use in commercial and government sectors, and the IQ Quad is for land surveys.
