NEW YORK and LISBON, Portugal — August 22, 2025 — Leads & Copy — TransPerfect, a global provider of language and AI solutions, has acquired Unbabel, a leader in language AI. The financial terms were not disclosed.
Unbabel, founded in 2013 and a Y Combinator graduate, specializes in translation AI, featuring its TowerLLM language model and COMET, an industry benchmark for evaluating machine translation quality.
The integration of Unbabel’s technology into TransPerfect’s GlobalLink® portfolio will enhance TransPerfect’s AI capabilities, according to TransPerfect President and Co-CEO Phil Shawe.
Unbabel Co-Founder and CEO Vasco Pedro will remain with the company to oversee integration.
