The study analyzed the film “Maria Chapdelaine” (2021), determining a cost of $8,000 per cinematic shot. It found that AI technologies could reduce this cost through automated pre-visualization, AI-generated backgrounds, streamlined post-production, and reduced crew requirements.
RTA Intelligence is demonstrating AI’s potential with Oceanne.ai, a transmedia project created by a single Canadian creator using AI. The project includes a 25-song musical catalog, an autobiography, a web series, live performances, and a feature film and rock opera in development.
The study suggests this tech could benefit Indigenous storytellers, francophone artists, underrepresented communities, and young filmmakers, potentially transforming Canada into a global content powerhouse.
