BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS — August 28, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Ordinal, an AI research assistant for local governments, has secured $1 million in seed funding led by Plains Ventures, with participation from Winrock International and The Venture Center Arkansas Fund. The funding will support the company’s expansion.
Ordinal’s platform enables city staff to quickly access information from verified internal documents using a secure retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) model. The platform grounds every answer in the municipality’s own records and links back to the source.
According to Jacob Herrington, co-founder of Ordinal, the platform makes information retrieval fast, reliable, and secure. Ordinal is implemented in several cities, including Sallisaw, Oklahoma; Decatur, Oklahoma; Lowell, Arkansas; Benton County, Arkansas; La Quinta, California; Pea Ridge, Arkansas; and Willard, Missouri.
With the new funding, the company plans to expand its customer base and build additional features.
Matt Hickman, principal partner at Plains Ventures, noted the product’s value to governments and the founding team’s expertise.
