Research indicates that nearly half of a call handler’s time on 911 calls is spent verifying information, while officers spend approximately 40% of their shift on administrative tasks. Assist can also highlight keywords and suggest immediate actions. Stephen Kennedy, assistant county administrator, Board of Sumter County Commissioners, Florida, noted that real-time transcription and call summaries provide telecommunicators with crucial information in real-time.
Additionally, Assist can automate the triage of non-emergency call traffic, which can account for 65% of call handlers’ workloads in some regions, redirecting routine inquiries and allowing human operators to focus on critical 911 calls.
The Responder Assist Suite aims to provide first responders with a verified picture of the situation before arrival, enabling voice-activated queries of agency data for situational awareness. Assist can automatically tag evidence and redact sensitive subjects and objects to expedite records documentation and support privacy.
Narrative Assist automates the process of cross-referencing an officer’s account with multiple data sources to verify facts and identify discrepancies. Police sergeant Michael Sellner of the White Bear Lake Police Department, Minnesota, reported that Motorola Solutions’ AI technologies have significantly increased departmental efficiency. He noted that Narrative Assist has reduced report writing time from an hour to 15 minutes, and Redaction Assist has decreased video redaction time from 35 hours to one.
