Lexar Introduces AI Storage Core for Edge AI Devices

SAN JOSE, Calif. — November 27, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Lexar has introduced the industry’s first AI Storage Core, a storage solution designed for AI-enabled devices, offering up to 4TB capacity, high-speed performance, and a hot-swappable design.

As AI computing shifts from the cloud to edge devices like AI PCs, intelligent vehicles, and robotics, traditional storage methods struggle to manage real-time multimodal data throughput and environmental reliability.

Gartner forecasts AI PC shipments to reach 143 million units in 2026, exceeding half of the global PC market. The new storage core aims to address the critical bottleneck of storage bandwidth and responsiveness in AI-driven endpoints.

The Lexar AI Storage Core incorporates three innovations:

The storage core delivers sequential read/write speeds that far exceed traditional memory cards, enabling rapid handling of AI-scale data. Small-block (512B) I/O optimization and host-system collaboration in SLC Boost and Read Cache layers improve LLM loading, generative image workflows, and other real-time AI tasks.

The device offers dustproof, waterproof, shock-resistant, and radiation-resistant protection, enabled by Longsys’ integrated packaging technology. Some models will support -40°C to 85°C wide-temperature operation, addressing the needs of autonomous driving, outdoor robotics, and mission-critical applications.

Its hot-swappable design allows insertion or removal during system operation. A co-engineered thermal solution ensures stable performance under sustained workloads, while PCIe boot support enables users to launch Windows OS, applications, and data directly from the module.

The AI Storage Core is purpose-built for five key AI application scenarios:

In AI PCs, the core’s capacity and speed accelerate model loading, LLM workflows, and generative tasks. Hot-swap support enables full mobile-workstation portability.

For AI Gaming, high IOPS and fast random-read performance reduce load times and stutter, supporting high-frame-rate rendering and real-time AI interactions.

In AI Cameras, sustained performance supports continuous 4K/8K video capture and real-time AI processing, while the shock-resistant construction suits outdoor imaging environments.

For AI Driving, the core ingests multi-sensor data streams from cameras, radar, and LiDAR. Wide-temperature, shock-resistant models ensure stable operation under extreme automotive conditions.

In AI Robotics, its compact packaging fits space-constrained robotic designs. Wide-temperature and anti-shock capabilities support factory, logistics, and outdoor scenarios. The hot-swappable design enables intelligence, identity, and security upgrades.
