IFS to Acquire Softeon, Enhancing Warehouse Management with Industrial AI

LONDON — December 17, 2025 — Leads & Copy —

IFS, a leading provider of Industrial AI software, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Softeon, a provider of cloud-native Warehouse Management, Warehouse Execution, and Distributed Order Management solutions. This strategic acquisition will extend IFS’s Industrial AI capabilities into the $8.6 billion warehouse management systems market.

The acquisition aims to create an integrated platform connecting manufacturing operations with intelligent warehouse execution, addressing the need for modernized supply chains and the challenges of labor shortages. Softeon’s WMS and WES capabilities are crucial for IFS customers in industries where warehouse operations must match the precision of manufacturing processes. Softeon’s customer base includes Sears Homes Services, Sony DADC, and DB Schenker Logistics.

IFS and Softeon plan to challenge the traditional WMS segment by integrating Industrial AI directly into warehouse operations. The combined solution will embed agentic AI and physical AI orchestration into warehouse management, including fulfillment, labor optimization, real-time yard visibility, and automation integration. This contrasts with legacy systems that rely on manual processes.

The acquisition aligns with IFS’s vision of embedding industry-specific intelligence where work happens. Softeon’s cloud-native platform will enable IFS.ai to transform warehouse operations, similar to how it has enhanced field service, asset management, and manufacturing.

The combined solution will leverage IFS’s partnerships with robotics companies like Boston Dynamics and 1X Technologies to create autonomous warehouse environments. Humanoid robots and autonomous mobile robots, along with IFS Loops Digital Workers, will orchestrate warehouse workflows within a single platform for industrial operations.

Softeon’s integrations with robotics, voice systems, and automation, combined with IFS.ai’s agentic capabilities, offer opportunities for warehouse intelligence. IFS Loops Digital Workers will manage orders and inventory, while robotic systems handle physical tasks and capture data. Human workers will focus on higher-value tasks and exception management.

The WMS segment, experiencing 12% annual growth, is positioned for disruption. Traditional vendors have struggled to integrate AI and robotics into legacy architectures. The combination of Softeon’s platform with IFS’s AI and robotics partnerships aims to provide autonomous, intelligent operations at scale.

For IFS customers in sectors such as aerospace and defense, energy, engineering and construction, manufacturing, and transport, the acquisition will offer immediate value. Softeon’s WMS and WES solutions, enhanced with IFS.ai, enable end-to-end supply chain orchestration.

IFS CEO Mark Moffat stated that the warehouse is the next frontier for Industrial AI. Softeon CEO Jim Hoefflin said that joining IFS will accelerate innovation in warehouse management.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
