August 18, 2025 — Leads & Copy — IBM and the USTA have unveiled new AI-powered digital experiences for the US Open, enhancing fan engagement on USOpen.org and the US Open app. Features include ‘Match Chat,’ an AI assistant providing real-time answers to fan questions during matches; an enhanced IBM SlamTracker offering live win likelihood projections; and ‘Key Points,’ which summarizes articles on the US Open app and website.
‘Match Chat,’ built with IBM watsonx Orchestrate, allows fans to ask questions about player stats and match insights. IBM SlamTracker offers live win probabilities, updating in real-time, and AI Commentary provides audio and subtitles for highlight videos.
‘Key Points’ creates summaries of articles and match analysis, offering fans quick recaps of the action. A recent IBM survey indicated that 86% of tennis fans value AI-powered features, particularly real-time insights and personalized highlights.
Jonathan Adashek, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications at IBM, stated that IBM is leveraging data and AI to create unique digital experiences, deepening fan engagement. Brian Ryerson, Sr. Director of Digital Strategy at the USTA, noted the collaboration with IBM has transformed operations and fan connections.
The 2025 US Open takes place from August 18 – September 7.
