Edgewater Wireless (TSXV:YFI) Selects Synopsys for Wi-Fi8 Silicon Program

VANCOUVER, BC — January 6, 2026 — Leads & Copy — Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. has chosen Synopsys as a core vendor for its next-generation Wi-Fi8-ready spectrum slicing silicon program.

The company made the announcement today, highlighting the growing market demand for reliable Wi-Fi and the increasing costs associated with poor Wi-Fi quality for large operators.

Analyst forecasts indicate that the global Wi-Fi chipset market is projected to reach the mid-US$36 billion range by 2034, driven by the proliferation of connected devices, high-density deployments, and time-sensitive applications. These factors are creating a need for more consistent wireless performance.

According to industry analyses, approximately one-third of inbound support calls are related to Wi-Fi issues. These calls can lead to significant costs per call and often escalate into technician visits, making Wi-Fi performance a direct operating expense and a customer satisfaction risk.

Andrew Skafel, President & CEO of Edgewater Wireless, stated that Wi-Fi8 and AI-driven connectivity are transforming network traffic flow. He added that customers are looking to Edgewater to lead that transition. By selecting Synopsys EDA solutions through their relationship with Silicon Catalyst, the engineering team is equipped with tools used by semiconductor companies. Skafel said this allows the company to focus on Wi-Fi Spectrum Slicing while using proven, high-performance design infrastructure to move faster and reduce risk.

As a Silicon Catalyst portfolio company, Edgewater Wireless is using Synopsys EDA solutions to optimize its design and verification processes. The company expects this integration to accelerate time-to-tape out, improve design quality, and de-risk the development of its RF, mixed-signal, and AI-enabled Wi-Fi system-on-chip (SoC) architectures.

Edgewater’s Wi-Fi Spectrum Slicing technology aims to increase capacity, lower latency, and improve performance in real-world environments, including homes, MDUs, smart factories, and industrial IoT settings. The adoption of Synopsys solutions is expected to streamline the company’s silicon lifecycle, from architecture exploration and RTL design through verification, implementation, and sign-off, supporting Edgewater’s roadmap toward production-ready Wi-Fi8-class silicon.

Nick Kepler, COO of Silicon Catalyst, noted that Edgewater Wireless is leveraging the Silicon Catalyst ecosystem to access advanced tools and expertise. Kepler believes that combining Edgewater’s Wi-Fi Spectrum Slicing technology with state-of-the-art EDA solutions will allow them to deliver value to service providers, device makers, and investors.

Edgewater’s strategy includes aligning with established semiconductor suppliers to support its fabless model. By using validated design technology, Edgewater can focus resources on algorithm development, AI-at-the-edge innovation, and system-level optimization.
