November 17, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Cadence (Nasdaq: CDNS) has appointed Dr. Luc Van den hove to its board of directors, effective January 1, 2026. Dr. Van den hove is currently the chief executive officer of imec, a non-profit research and innovation hub focused on nanoelectronics and digital technologies.
ML Krakauer, chair of the board at Cadence, expressed the company’s honor in welcoming Dr. Van den hove. Krakauer noted that AI is reshaping semiconductor and system design, and Cadence’s AI-driven design solutions are helping customers achieve breakthroughs. He added that Van den hove’s expertise, ecosystem relationships, and industry perspective will provide insights as Cadence advances its strategy, accelerates innovation, and delivers value to shareholders.
Dr. Van den hove has been with imec since its founding in 1984, serving as president and chief executive officer since 2009. He will continue in his current role until March 31, 2026, before transitioning to chair of imec’s board of directors on April 1, 2026. Previously, he held various positions at imec, including executive vice president and chief operating officer, vice president of the silicon process and device technology division, department director of unit process step R&D, and manager of imec’s micro-patterning group.
Dr. Van den hove holds a PhD in electrical engineering from KU Leuven, Belgium, and also serves as a director of Proximus.
